On June 26, 2008, the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund’s Board of Directors voted to phase out the Home of Your Own Program.
This decision was not made lightly. We have noted that the service delivery and funding system has changed to the point where the Home of Your Own program is no longer viable. At the same time, housing prices have risen dramatically. Other states have also made the difficult decision not to offer the Home of Your Own program.
The Loan Fund has always committed itself to the principle of housing choice, including homeownership by people with disabilities. This decision does not signify a reduction in the commitment of the Loan Fund to serving people with disabilities and the organizations that support them.
The Loan Fund considers this an opportunity to begin discussions to proactively identify where access to capital can further the interests, ambitions and choices of people with disabilities.
